Sustain contracts

Reconciling a great hatred,

surely there will remain some hatred.

Whereby to make good?

Therefore the holy man holds the left side of his contract

and not exacts from others.

Have virtue keep contract.

Have not virtue insist on claims.

Heaven's reason has no preference

always helps the good man.

 

To forget knowledge

Attend to learning daily he gains.

Practises reason daily he diminishes.

He diminishes himself and again he diminishes.

Thus attains unto non-doing.

He does non-doing yet there is nothing undone.

To take the empire always he uses non-diplomacy

When using diplomacy not is he fit thereby to take the empire.

 

What's enough

I don't care for much.  I do with enough.  I do not over-develop desires.  Just do not devour what's there from the past to the present and will be to the future.  We can learn to live well, together.
